The Woodward Dream Cruise is one of the largest automotive cruising events in the world where nine participating metro-Detroit communities (Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac, Royal Oak), work together to host one of the largest car cruising events in the world.
In August 1995, Mr. Nelson House and a group of volunteers looked to relive and recreate the nostalgic heydays of the '50s and '60s, by organizing the first 'Woodward Dream Cruise Car Show'. That year, 250,000 people participated— ten times the number expected.
What started as a car show to raise money to build a local soccer field in Ferndale, Michigan has grown into an automotive event featuring over 30,000 vehicles and nearly one-million spectators.
As one of the nine host communities, the City of Ferndale features the Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show, Lights & Sirens Cruise Parade and the Rock'n Live Entertainment stage.
